Secret Love Parade at Skek. This was one of the shows I found on Amsterdam Songwriter's Guild blog, and I was glad to see some local Dutch pop talent, as the other shows I had been seeing were touring bands. I commented to one of the staff members that this was one of the few venues that supported up-and-coming local talent. (Of course, I could be wrong about this since I might just have not discovered the plethora of venues that feature more local talent during my research.)

One of the things I didn't like about the music scene in Amsterdam was that there were generally no opening bands at shows. Unlike in the US and UK where you typically have 3 bands on a bill, it seemed common practice in Amsterdam to buy a ticket to see an artist, only that artist would play, and then you'd leave. To my mind, this would have a negative impact on the local music scene because music is often discovered by big name artists bringing people in to hear the opening bands that play before them.
